Updated: Aug 5, 2020

Phew, we made it through the holiday season.

Your holiday shopping is finished, the wrapping paper put away, and your in-laws are on their way home.

I love the holidays! I love the search of the holiday magic and spending time with friends and family, but let's face it the holidays can also be exhausting.

It's important to take time to recharge after the hustle and bustle of this busy season. Here is a list of ways to help you bounce back after the holidays.

  20. Draw

  21. Meditate

  22. Knit or crochet

  23. Sit quietly and enjoy the peace

  24. Play a board game

  25. Bake something just for you

I am writing this list for myself as much as I am writing it for you.

Between the three little kids, holidays, and working I can't even tell you the last time I washed my hair or shaved my legs. So trying to find time to "recharge" in itself feels daunting.

Here is the thing, this week I'm finding myself snapping at the kids and those around me for silly things. I have a choice to make, push those feelings down and try harder to smile and be kind. Which let me tell you, it does not end well. For me, my body shuts down or I explode on the ones I love. These are a cue that I'm doing too much and not taking care of myself.

My Word of the year is love. Part of what I am exploring this year is if I make time for myself will that allow me to be a calmer mother, a more loving wife, a compassionate boss.

Here is what I'm going to do this week to rejuvenate after the holidays:

  1. Read a good book by the fire

  2. Play a board game

  3. Give myself a facial and take a bath

  4. Sleep 8+ hrs (don't set the alarm to wake up)

  5. Go to gentle/stretching yoga

I wish you a Happy New Year filled with love, laughter, and joy!
