What if the secret to achieving any goal was as easy as changing your habits?
At the core, we're all trying to improve our lives: exercise more, eat healthier, quit smoking. Yet time after time, we skip the gym, grab the cupcake, or cave in for another craving.
When you live a life full of healthy habits, you will have more energy and confidence. Once you understand how to change your habits, you will be able to use the same technic to achieve your goals.
You are doing your best.
In The Power of Habit by Charles Duhigg. Duhigg helps you understand what a habit is and how you can make simple changes that will put you back in control of your life.
If the plan doesn't work, change the plan, not the goal.
Goals are one big task, broken into smaller subtasks, which can be looked at as habits. You have to show up day after day to do the work. Learning how to use the cue, reward & routine method, you learn how to overcome obstacles and setbacks that are inevitable on the path to achieve your goals.
Here is my favorite part about Duhigg system; you are 100% in control of the outcome. If you are trying to change a habit or reach a goal and something is not working, you don't quit; you try again. You become a scientist for your own life. You identify what you feel the problem is, come up with a solution and test out your theory.
As you continue on your journey, stay curious and lean into your internal voice. Use the "excuses", it's telling you why something won't work but only as the foundation to find solutions that will.
You are strong, smart, and capable of more than you think. You got this!
Here is a list of healthy rewards that you can try:
1. Meet a friend for coffee
2. Go for a walk
3. Read your book for 30mins ( or more )
4. Take a power nap
5. Take a bubble bath
6. Give yourself a facial
7. Put on an outfit that makes you feel good
8. Listen to your favorite song
9. Take 10mins to stretch
